LENGTH OF ITINERARY: 6,45 hours at a calm pace with some stops

TYPE OF SURFACE: asphalt in good condition;

RECOMMENDED PERIOD: mid-May to October

POSSIBILITY TO SHORTEN ITINERARY: no

POSSIBILITY TO LENGTHEN ITINERARY: yes

Take the SS 42 (national road) all the way to the town of Breno and then follow the directions to Passo Crocedomini, at 1890 m.(always check the sign posted after Breno that indicates if the Pass is “aperto” (open) or “chiuso” (closed). A stop is recommended here in order to enjoy the magnificent view.

Take the road that leads to Bagolino, the scenery along the first part is quite striking. Pass through the historical centre of the town and continue onwards until you reach the point where the road merges with the road that lies along Lago d’Idro. Here, turn right following the directions for Brescia. Once you reach the town of Idro, follow the directions to Lago di Valvestino and continue towards Gargnano

Once you arrive in Gargnano, it is possible to have lunch at the Hotel Ristorante Meandro (ph 0365 71128) or you can relax by the lakeside (equipped area) at the “La Fontanella” restaurant.(ph 0365 641315). For those that have their bathing suit with them, a dip in the lake is definitely a must! The trip continues onwards in the province of Brescia (there is however the possibility to transfer over to the other side of the lake, that is part of the province of Verona, from Toscolano Maderno. From here descend down to Sirmione and then to Brescia, where you will return onto our itinerary) following the directions for Brescia.

When you reach Gavardo turn and go towards Vallio Terme in order to pass the Colle di S.Eusebio at 574 m to then reach Nave. Follow the directions for Gardone VT all the way to Ponte Zenano, located in Val Trompia which is famous for its numerous firearm factories, amongst which is the “Beretta”. At Ponte Zenano, at the first traffic light, turn right heading towards Polaveno-Iseo. From here take the old national road (instead of the new ring road) and travel along beside the lake until you reach Pisogne and then towards Darfo Boario Terme, Edolo and Adamello Ski.

For extra fun on your motorcycle

The section that lies halfway between Breno and Passo Crocedomini will allow you to accelerate a bit in complete safety, all the way to the Belvedere restaurant.

From here continue onwards at a calm pace until after reaching Idro. You once again have the possibility to accelerate in complete safety until you reach the end of the first part of the descent after Capovella. For those that feel a bit more daring, there is the possibility to put your gears to work while being extra careful as you enter into the tunnel that is located after Idro, due to the wet surface of the curve. Once again return to a normal pace until just after Vallio Terme, the road going up to Colle di S. Eusebio has several bends and less curves. From Ponte Zenone to Polaveno you can once again have some fun, of course by staying on the right side of the road.
