Routes : Scalve valley and Camonica valley
The route sets off from Bergamo and leads onto
local road 671, crossing the SERIANA VALLEY until
it reaches Clusone – a town well worth a visit for
its historical centre and famous frescoes of the Dance Macabre.
Setting off again, the route travels towards the
Passo della Presolana (Presolana pass), heading from Castione
in the direction of Schilpario, where the scenery is decorated
with ski-slopes.
We’re now in Val di Scalve (Scalve
valley), a town also known for its mines, which can be visited upon
request.
The route then heads up to the Passo di Vivione
(Vivione pass), along a road that is narrow and winding but has
a good surface. It continues up to Berzo Demo, located at the valley
floor of the Oglio river.
Here we arrive in Val Camonica (Camonica
valley) where, at the top, you can visit the prehistorical open-air
museums with rock inscriptions left by the Camuni people.
After Breno, we continue along the SS42
towards Darfo Boario Terme, where we recommend you take a
break to enjoy the local thermal baths.
Getting back on the bike, we head down towards
Lovere and Lake Iseo; from here you can choose whether
to continue coasting around the lake or head back towards Bergamo,
crossing the Val Cavallina.
Total distance covered is between 250 to a
max. 300 km, according to the route taken
