Follow the SS 42 (national road), it is
then recommended to exit from the ring road at Rogno. Pass
through the centre of Lovere, a charming town that is located
on the Lake of Iseo, and follow the road that lies beside
the lake that takes you to Sarnico. This part of the itinerary
is quite fascinating since the road has been dug out right underneath
a cliff. There are several blind curves to the right that are also
elbow curves that require extra caution, as does the section that
passes through the tunnel which is quite slippery due to water infiltration.
After Sarnico, it is best to continue onwards
towards Provaglio d’Iseo – Brescia, while passing
through some of the most famous vineyards in Franciacorta.
If you book in advance, it is possible to visit one of the many
prestigious wineries in this area (ph 030 9868533 www.agenzialagoiseofranciacorta.it
).
At Camignone take the ring road towards
Verona and exit at Desenzano. Turn and go towards Padenghe
and then take the road that lies beside Garda Lake going towards
Salò. There are many ways to access the lake. It is
possible to visit l’isola dei Conigli (the island of
Rabbits), that can be reached by foot when the water level is low.
It is definitely worth stopping to have lunch in one of the many
restaurants by the lake.
Once you arrive in Salò, you can
take a 10 km detour towards Gardone Riviera where it is possible
to visit the “Vittoriale”, Home-Museum of Gabriele D’Annunzio.
Returning to Salò, take the ring
road and follow it to Brescia, continuing in the direction
towards Lago d’Iseo and then Edolo, all the way to
Ceto. From here, once again take the national road to return
to the Adamello Ski territory.
